Meet Student Designer: Sungwon Kim
Habits of overconsuming, overproducing, and rapid trend cycles have caused this paradox. Why is it that nature suffers at the hands of innovation?
To diffuse this paradox, we as designers must be the innovators that spread awareness and bridge the gap between the trendsetters and mass population. This look is charged with the potential dark consequences of plastic pollution. The contamination of our foods, disease & cancers, dissolution of ecosystems; and nature retaliating and reciprocating the damage plastic population allocates to our oceans. The siren inspired this design because it’s a fictional marine character that represents the danger of temptation, and embodies humanity’s struggle to reject a convenience that destroys our home.
