Meet Student Designer: Elizabeth Herwaldt
Elizabeth Herwaldt took her first sewing class in the 8th grade and fell in love with the
process, specifically how the right clothes bring confidence and joy to others. So, in 2019,
she decided to study fashion design at College of DuPage.

She loved the whole process of designing but did not love the industry pitfalls, so she decided she wanted to be part of the change. While at College of DuPage, she engaged with sustainability in fashion in various ways, including helping to create a give-and-take rack on campus.
After graduating from College of DuPage, she decided to pursue a degree in social entrepreneurship, which combines business with making a positive impact on the world. She started her degree in social entrepreneurship with a minor in art at North Central College in Naperville, IL, in January of 2025. In the future, she plans to start her own company or work for a small business that focuses on sustainability and inclusion in the fashion industry.
