Meet Macaila Britton, The Chairwoman

“We have such a great community and amazing resources in the city and throughout the suburbs. I wanted to lean into that and create something that could bring us together to explore ways we can build the sustainable future we want to be a part of. Fashion is one commonality — we all wear clothes. This is an avenue where we can learn about things such as where the items in our closet are made, what sustainability means when choosing what clothes to buy, and how we can make the best choices using the resources available to us.” – Macaila Britton on Sustainable Fashion Week coming to Chicago.

Macaila Britton is the SFW Chicago Hub’s Founder and Chairwoman. Working in tandem with SFW headquarters, she wanted to bring more sustainable fashion opportunities to the Windy City and bring communities together to champion change.

Macaila is an Environmental Communicator and Storyteller. She is the founder of Sustainable Business Guide (SBG), an online directory connecting users with sustainable brands and businesses. On the consultancy side, SBG supports businesses with environmental auditing, impact reporting, and ESG communications, marketing, and public relations strategies.

She is a proud member of Ethical Influencers and a World Economics Forum Global Shaper with the Chicago hub. Macaila continues to bring sustainability practice into SBG, her sustainable lifestyle blog’s content production, and other creative projects, as a way to blend her passion for stewarding the earth with her love for storytelling.
